It’s Christmas and I’m Jewish, and sadly the 8-days-of-presents-Chrismukkah legend is about as real as Marisa’s bras in The OC. In other words, non-existent. Yes, that also means I don’t have to brave the horrific, terrifying, stress-inducing thing people call Christmas shopping. But I also don’t get the presents… It’s a toss up which I’d prefer really. Either way, here are a few of my favourite things for the summer season just in case anyone feels like getting me a gift, just cos.
1. Geometric shapes
Especially when they’re over-sized and excessive. Anything that will make me look ridiculous, as well all know how I like to make a statement. I’m pretty certain no one else in the world will ever purchase this pentagon shaped choker.
I think the entire Instagram community is obsessed, but does anyone else have TWO marble phone cases? No, I didn’t think so.
3. Crystals & Stones
Another thing I have loved from a young age. When I was about 10 I decided to collect crystals and precious stones. I probably own enough to provide to every brand that has decided to produce crystal jewelry over the past few months. And that’s a lot of crystals. It is lucky for me that every jewelry brand ever has decided to create crystal & stone-based pieces. There are even brands with the word crystal in them. In hindsight, this name probably lacks longevity, and will be about as long-lasting as my friend’s burrito tasting Instagram was. People get sick of burritos. Bloggers get sick of trends even faster.
Anyway, if I did receive Christmas gifts it would probably cause my friends and family a lot of trauma due to the impossible activity of attempting to choose anything for me. My taste is extremely random, unusual and can change at any second. So it’s probably lucky for everyone’s mental health that I don’t celebrate Christmas. It DOESN’T however mean that I will not be building a gingerbread house with my boyfriend. Stay tuned if you’d like to see what will most likely be a blob of mushed lollies and failed infrastructure.
