Oaks Day

What to do when you don’t have an outfit fancy enough? Just wear two on top of each other.

Yes,Β I literally wore two tops and two skirts on top of each other, and if I do say so myself I think it turned out looking a whole lot less silly than you’d imagine. While I slightly regretted the whole double skirt situation while I was walking through the scorching sun (22 degrees but felt to me like 50…), it was fun to twirl in and only took about 20 boomerang tries to actually get a decent twirl. Who knew twirling was so difficult? Maybe it was the shoes killing me softly, or the G.H. Mumm rosΓ©, that decadently dressed waiters sneakily filled up your cup with every 5 seconds. Okay, maybe I asked them to, but the drink is PINK and who knows when I’ll get to sip pink French rosΓ© again.

We spent the day in the Mumm Club de la Plage (beach club) marquee and we were transported to a beach side club – whether you wanted to be in Ibiza or St Tropez or Mykonos it was up to your imagination… except you didn’t need to imagine the swimming pool, the entertainment, the music, or the food and drink.Β No you didn’t read that wrong, there was actually swimming pool. It was literally my DREAM beach – NO SAND, NO SUN & NO WATER (the pool was just for performers). And you got to wear nice clothing instead of bathers (my happiness is dependent on my ability to perpetually overdress – something that’s impossible to do at the beach). If only every beach could be like this, the world would be happier place. Okay scrap that, I would be happier and the rest of the world would probably be really sad.Β And bikini body guides would go out of business…

Anyway, thanks to the Mumm marquee for the best day at the beach that I’ve EVER had and probably will ever have…
